UPC/EAN Code Number

We prefer that our suppliers use the standard UPC/EAN code number. Although we transmit this number on our purchase orders and the 850 - EDI purchase order, it is there only to aid you in identifying the product we are ordering. We require that the UPC/EAN code number be on the individual part for identification in both bar-code and human readable form. Please send us the UPC/EAN number that is actually on the product on all packing lists and on the 856 - Advance Ship Notice.

In lieu of UPC/EAN Code Number

If a supplier does not use UPC/EAN bar code labels on their product, we require that a bar-code label be applied to the individual part containing our Motion Industries Item Number (SKU#), as transmitted on our purchase order. The bar-code should be 8-digits alphanumeric, Code 39, no check digits, 30 mil density, minimum 1/2" in height. Human readable characters should accompany it. The label must be of sufficient size to print the bar-code and human readable number.

The label should be affixed to the face of the package as it would be placed on the shelf. If the item is too small or is of such construction that a bar-code label cannot be attached, the item should be packaged or a tag must be attached to allow for the application of the label.
